ISTH Meeting 2003:

Dear Colleagues! We are very pleased to inform you that the next open Meeting of our Subcomission will take place on Black Sea during the 14th CONGRESS OF EUROPEAN MYCOLOGISTS KATSIVELI NEAR YALTA, CRIMEA, UKRAINE 22-27 SEPTEMBER 2003

Scientific program of the one day ISTH meeting will include presentations of ISTH member who is interested to do so. Moreover most significant recent achievements in the field of Trichoderma/Hypocrea taxonomy and phylogeny will be discussed in the light of the selection of the most accurate tool for the reliable molecular identification of these fungi. (See minutes of the last ISTH meeting). Traditional information exchange, proposing of new members and several administrative issues will end up the meeting.

Imagining that Crimea and Ukraine might sound uncertain and unfamiliar for most of you ISTH secretary Irina Druzhinina - native Russian speaker originated from Moscow, Russia - is always ready to answer your questions as well as assist you in the course of the meeting (if needed).

We are looking forward to meet you in Crimea this year!

Some important dates to attend the 14th Congress of European Mycologists:

• 31 March 2003. Closing date for receipt of Registration Forms and registration fee without surcharge. After this date there will be a 20% surcharge on the registration fee.
  
  
• 30 April 2003. Closing date for receipt of abstracts.
  
  
• 31 August 2003. Last possible date for receipt of Registration Forms and registration fee. Cancellations received after 31 May 2003 and up to this date will be subject to a 50% surcharge on all monies paid. From this date onward, no repayments will be made in the event of cancellation.

• John Bissett (Canada), Novel applications of Biolog microplates for the study of biodiversity in Trichoderma
• George Szakacs (Hungary), Trichoderma subcollection at the Technical University of Budapest

Afternoon Session

• Irina Druzhinina (Austria), The revision of ITS1 and 2 sequences of Trichoderma and Hypocrea deposited in public databases using ARB technology and phylogenetic analysis
• Dosmorad Zafari (Iran), Introducing new species of Trichoderma as biological control agent
• Mette Lubeck (Denmark), Delineation of species in the Trichoderma viride/atroviride/koningii complex by UP-PCR cross blot hybridization.
